PM Internship Scheme: The Prime Minister's Internship Program aims to provide internships to 1.25 lakh unemployed youth across the country. The initial phase will launch in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, and Telangana. Registration for the program will be open from October 12 to October 25, with shortlisted candidates being announced by October 26. The selection process will take place from October 27 to November 7, and the internships are set to commence on December 2, offering a year-long training opportunity.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for this scheme, candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 24. Those studying through online or distance learning methods are also eligible. Additionally, candidates who have completed their 10th or 12th grade, ITI, Polytechnic, or hold degrees such as BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, and B Pharma can apply.
Who can't apply?
Graduates from prestigious institutions like IIT, IIM, National Law University, TripleIT, and IISER are not eligible to apply. Additionally, candidates with degrees in CA, CS, CMA, MBBS, BDS, or MBA are excluded. Those whose parents or spouse earn more than Rs 8 lakh per annum will also be deemed ineligible.
Internship Compensation
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 during the internship. Of this amount, Rs 4,500 will be provided by the Central Government through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), while Rs 500 will be contributed by the companies from their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. An additional one-time payment of Rs 6,000 will also be granted. Many participating companies have pledged to offer lunch and transportation facilities.
111 companies came forward
111 companies have participated on the first day of the pilot project. These companies are being given internship training in a virtual manner. A call center has also been set up under this scheme, which will provide help in 10 Indian languages.
Additional Provisions
The internship selection process will include reservations for SC, ST, OBC, and Divyang category candidates. Efforts will be made to ensure candidates are placed in companies located in or near their respective districts.
