Rajasthan: Dubai-Returned Passenger in Jaipur Suspected of Monkeypox Infection

On Tuesday, a 20-year-old passenger arrived at Jaipur International Airport in Rajasthan on a SpiceJet flight from Dubai. Following his arrival, the passenger's health deteriorated, and initial investigations revealed symptoms consistent with monkeypox.

In accordance with World Health Organization guidelines, the airport authority promptly notified the medical department. Subsequently, the patient was transported directly from the airport to RUHS Hospital for further care.

RUHS Hospital Superintendent Dr. Ajit Singh said that special arrangements have been made in the hospital regarding monkeypox. An entire floor has been designated exclusively for the treatment of patients diagnosed with monkeypox.

Alert issued in Rajasthan

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared monkeypox a global public health emergency due to a continuous rise in cases worldwide. In response to this situation, the Medical Department in Rajasthan has issued an alert concerning monkeypox disease.

According to doctors, monkeypox is currently classified as an infectious disease caused by a virus. Its symptoms resemble those of herpes and chickenpox. Patients affected by monkeypox typically experience painful rashes, comparable in size to peas, along with high fever. Additional symptoms may include muscle pain and swelling of the lymph nodes.
