World Table Tennis Championship: Manika Batra becomes first Indian player to enter quarterfinals


Indian table tennis player Manika Batra has reached the women's singles quarterfinals of the World Table Tennis Championship (WTT).


With this, Manika Batra has become the first Indian player to make her place in the quarterfinals of WTT.


The World Table Tennis Championship is being played in France. In this sports competition, Manika Batra has entered the quarterfinals by defeating Bernadette Cynthia Szőcs


World number 30 player Manika Batra won 3-1 (11-9 6-11 13-11 11-9) in 29 minutes against eighth seed Szocs in the round of 16 match.


In the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Manika Batra won the gold medal in both the women's singles and team events.


In the same competition, she also won silver in the women's doubles event and bronze in mixed doubles.


Apart from this, Manika Batra also reached the third round of women's singles table tennis in Tokyo Olympics. She was also the first Indian player to make this achievement.
