In a historic first, Google has adapted its navigation services to cater to the sprawling, temporary city of the Maha Kumbh Mela. A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Google and the Maha Kumbh Mela Authority to implement this unique digital support.

Under this collaboration, Google will develop a specialized navigation feature tailored specifically for the Maha Kumbh. Through this initiative, devotees will be able to locate key sites, including all significant places, Akharas, and even prominent saints within the expansive Mela grounds.

Google’s navigation service traditionally covers established cities and regions. This will be the first time it offers guidance within a temporary venue. In the past, navigation was done manually using maps or by asking locals for directions, but Google Maps has transformed this experience in recent years. With this new service, attendees will have access to a comprehensive, real-time digital map highlighting major routes, ghats, religious sites, Akharas, and locations of revered saints.
