TTD Chairman BR Naidu Outlines New Measures for Non-Hindu Employees within Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Details Inside

Hyderabad: The Chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), BR Naidu, announced on Tuesday that non-Hindu employees within TTD have been identified, and the organization will request them to consider voluntary retirement or seek transfer to other government departments, such as revenue, municipality, or corporations. This initiative is part of a broader resolution passed by the TTD board.

Naidu's statement came a day after the TTD board passed a resolution requiring non-Hindu employees to either voluntarily retire or seek transfer to other Andhra Pradesh government departments.

Addressing the media, Naidu clarified, “I moved the resolution in the board yesterday, and it was accepted unanimously. We have identified TTD employees who are non-Hindus, and I will be meeting with them personally to discuss voluntary retirement. For those unwilling, we will facilitate their transfer to other government departments like revenue, municipal departments, corporations, or even through deputation.”

Request to Revoke Land Allotment for Hotel Development Near Temple

In addition to the resolution concerning non-Hindu employees, the TTD board passed a separate resolution regarding the allotment of land near the Tirumala temple. The board has requested the Andhra Pradesh government to revoke the allotment of 20 acres near Alipiri, which was earmarked for the construction of Mumtaz Hotel. Naidu explained that the proximity of a commercial hotel to the temple premises has raised significant objections among Hindu devotees.

Naidu shared historical context on the issue: “Under the previous administration of CM Chandrababu Naidu, the land was designated for the Devalokam project, meant to support temple-related tourism. However, the project was altered to allocate the land to Mumtaz Hotel. This hotel is located adjacent to the temple, a situation deemed objectionable to Hindu devotees. Thus, we passed a resolution requesting the government to cancel the lease, and we intend to reintegrate that land back with the temple.”

AI Integration for Improved Queue Management

TTD is also exploring advanced solutions to improve the experience of devotees, particularly in managing the often lengthy queues. BR Naidu revealed that TTD is working on implementing an AI-driven queue management system that will allow devotees to have a smoother, more organized experience without the need to stand in long lines. This technology aims to address human rights concerns and enhance the efficiency of darshan (temple viewing).

Naidu stated, “The waiting period can sometimes reach up to 30 hours, which raises concerns over the rights and convenience of devotees. We are seriously considering solutions, and after consulting with experts, we have proposed using facial recognition technology to streamline the queue system. The system will capture an image of each devotee upon arrival, assigning them a specific darshan time automatically, thus eliminating the need for long waiting periods.”

Through these initiatives, TTD is focusing on making the temple experience more aligned with the expectations of its religious devotees, while also ensuring a smooth and respectful environment for all visitors.
