UP: Stairs of Zia ur Rehman Barq's house bulldozed, Rs 1.91 cr fine imposed, what Akhilesh Yadav said?

The troubles of Samajwadi Party MP from Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, Zia ur Rehman Barq, continue to escalate. In the past 24 hours, the district administration has initiated a series of actions against him. This follows a report of electricity theft lodged against him last Thursday, leading to a raid by the Electricity Department at his residence. According to the Electricity Department's team, the meter reading at the MP's home was recorded as zero..

Steps of MP's house bulldozed

On Friday, officials reported that a bulldozer was used to remove the steps leading to the residence of Zia ur Rehman as part of an "anti-encroachment" initiative in the Deepa Sarai area.

The administration said that this construction was done without getting the map passed. There was tight security during the action and monitoring was done with drones. An FIR has also been registered against the SP MP's father accusing him of threatening the officials of the Electricity Department.

The heavy fine in the case of electricity theft and running a bulldozer on encroachment have increased the difficulties for him. The administration said that this action is being in accordance with the rules and will continue in future as well.

Part of a scheme orchestrated by official: Akhilesh

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had reacted to the electricity department raid at SP MP Zia ur Rehman Barq's house and said that that it is part of a scheme orchestrated by officials. He stated that following recent violence, the officers are now engaging in a new tactic to protect themselves by targeting the homes of Muslims. Yadav also mentioned that they are extending their actions to the MP's residence. He urged the Chief Minister to look into the activities of BJP members, alleging that BJP leaders are involved in electricity theft.

Case registered, fine of Rs 1.91 cr imposed

A case of electricity theft has been registered against Barq and a fine of Rs 1.91 crore has been imposed. Vinod Kumar Gupta, Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Department, said that irregularities were found in the MRI examination of two meters installed in the name of MP and former MP Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Barq. The noteworthy thing is that electricity theft was being done by tampering with nine meters. This was revealed when the team of the Electricity Department went to his house to install a smart meter last Tuesday.
