What did Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav say on One Nation One Election

Opposition parties are constantly reacting on the issue of 'One Nation One Election'. In this connection, the president of the main opposition party Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, has also reacted.

Kharge has said, "We will see what is in this bill and how the government will implement it. First we will look at all the issues and then react to it."

Meanwhile, All India United Democratic Front  (AIUDF), a key opposition party in Assam, General Secretary, Dr. Hafiz Rafikul Islam has claimed that the BJP will not try to pass this bill.

He says, "They will send it to JPC. India is a huge country, One Nation One Election is very difficult and almost impossible here..."

A high-level committee was formed under the chairmanship of former President Ram Nath Kovind to consider holding simultaneous elections in the country, this committee has recommended One Nation One Election.

It is undemocratic: Akhilesh

Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has said that 'One Country, One Election' is not only an 'impractical' but also an 'undemocratic' system.

Akhilesh Yadav has written on social media, "If governments become unstable even in the middle of their term, will the people there live without democratic representation? For this, constitutionally elected governments will have to be dissolved in the middle, which will be an insult to public opinion."

Yadav further said "Actually 'One Country, One Election' is a big conspiracy of autocratic thinking against democracy, which wants to capture the entire country at once."

The central government and its allies have argued that holding simultaneous elections in the country will reduce government expenditure and development work will also be able to go on at a faster pace.
