Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has given a statement on the notice of no-confidence motion against Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Talking to reporters, Mallikarjun Kharge made several claims about Jagdeep Dhankhar. He said that the Vice President's attitude is like that of a school headmaster. If the opposition leader speaks for five minutes in the House, then the Vice President speaks for 10 minutes in response.
Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Whatever issues are raised by the opposition in Parliament under the rules, the Chairman does not allow debate or discussion on them in a planned manner. Opposition leaders are repeatedly prevented from speaking."
His loyalty is to the ruling party: Kharge
Kharge said, "His (Vice President's) loyalty is to the ruling party instead of the Constitution and constitutional traditions. He is working as a spokesperson for the government for his next promotion. This is what we are seeing."
According to the Congress President, the chairman is the biggest obstacle in the Rajya Sabha. If the proceedings of the House are disrupted, the biggest reason for it is the chairman. The ruling party and the chairman try to close the House by creating repeated obstructions.
Mallikarjun Kharge also said that generally the opposition seeks protection from the chairman and he is the protector of the opposition. But if the chairman is openly praising the ruling party and the Prime Minister, then who will listen to the opposition.
On Wednesday also, the proceedings of the Parliament had to be canceled due to uproar. There was an uproar in the Rajya Sabha on the issue of the opposition's notice of no-confidence motion against chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. After this, chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar adjourned the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha.
