A major accident has occurred in Mungeli, Chhattisgarh. Dozens of workers were trapped under the collapsed chimney of a plant. Relief and rescue operations are currently underway to help those affected.
Initial information has revealed that more than 9 workers have died in this accident. At the same time, more than 25 workers are still trapped. According to the information, the number of workers who have died in this accident may also rise.
Police administration teams have reached the spot after getting information about the incident and efforts are on to rescue the people trapped in the debris.
Construction work had been going on for a few weeks in the Kusum Steel Plant in Sargaon police station area of Mungeli district.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place at 2 pm. At this time most of the workers were having lunch after taking break from work.
Mungeli District Magistrate Rahul Dev told media, "There is a possibility of workers being trapped due to the collapse of a silo structure in an iron manufacturing factory in Sargaon, Mungeli."
This accident happened in Rambod area of Sargaon police station area. Local people are also helping the administration in relief and rescue work.
