The US court has stayed the executive order of President Donald Trump which ended the provision of US citizenship automatically granted to children of non-US parents by birth. The judge of the Federal Court in Seattle, US has temporarily stayed this order.
Four US states had demanded a stay on Trump's executive order ending the provision of US citizenship automatically granted to children by birth.
When the US Law Department lawyer argued in favour of Trump's order, the judge asked, "Is this constitutional?"
The executive order issued by Donald Trump explains the circumstances under which US citizenship will not be granted.
\These circumstances are: If the mother of a child born in the US is living illegally
If the father is not a US citizen or a legal permanent resident at the time of the child's birth
If the mother is a legal but temporary resident of the US at the time of the child's birth
If the father is not a US citizen or a legal permanent resident at the time of the child's birth
The decision stated that Trump's executive order will come into effect from February 19.
