Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been selected as the ICC Cricketer of the Year for his outstanding performance in the year 2024.
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Bumrah has received the prestigious 'Sir Garry Sobers Award'.
Jasprit Bumrah performed brilliantly in every format of cricket last year, due to which he was given this honor.
5th Indian cricketer to receive this honor
Bumrah is the fifth Indian cricketer to receive this honor. Earlier, Rahul Dravid in the year 2004, Sachin Tendulkar in the year 2010, R Ashwin in the year 2016 and Virat Kohli in the years 2017 and 2018 have received this honor.
Bumrah is currently ranked first among Test bowlers in the ICC rankings.
Bumrah took 15 wickets in the T20 World Cup in 2024 and was named Player of the Tournament. India had won the tournament.
Last year, Bumrah took 71 wickets in 13 Test matches, which was the best performance by any bowler.
Earlier, Bumrah has also been declared the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year for his excellent performance in 2024.
