Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a luncheon meeting with the MLAs of the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra on Wednesday. The meeting took place at the INS Angre auditorium in Mumbai. The meeting has taken place amidst media reports that all is not well between MLAs of ruling constituent parties.
The Mahayuti government was established in Maharashtra, following a period of contention regarding the CM and the cabinet formation. Although the government has commenced its work, tensions appear to persist between Shiv Sena (Shinde) and BJP MLAs within the Mahayuti alliance.
CM, Dy CM attended meeting
Those who attended the meeting included Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with the most of MLAs from the ruling coalition, which comprises the BJP, NCP, Shiv Sena, and several smaller allies. The Mahayuti alliance achieved a thumping victory in the November 20 assembly elections last year, securing 230 out of 288 seats.
PM will provide guidance: Shinde
Before the meeting Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader, said that PM Modi will provide guidance to the Mahayuti MLAs. He said that the public has granted a big majority to the coalition. This has increased our responsibility towards the electorate. This is the reason why PM will guide the MLAs of Mahayuti.
Shinde told that before this meeting, Shiv Sena has also held a meeting in which the party's organisational decisions and the strategy for the Mumbai Metropolitan elections were discussed.
