Prayagraj Maha Kumbh-2025: Anticipation Builds for Second Amrit Snan, Why It Is Signigficant?

A week has passed since the commencement of the world's largest religious gathering, the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh-2025, which began on January 13. Since then, hundreds of thousands of devotees have been arriving in Prayagraj daily to take part in the sacred Sangam bath.

This year's event is particularly notable due to a rare alignment of circumstances occurring once every 144 years, drawing many to the Kumbh. The scene is vibrant with various saints and akhara leaders adorned in the colors of the festival.

As the second Amrit Snan approaches, anticipation is palpable. This sacred bath, taking place on Mauni Amavasya, holds significant meaning in Hinduism. Believers regard the Amrit Snan as a deeply holy and beneficial ritual.

Mauni Amavasya is marked by several auspicious coincidences

This year, Mauni Amavasya is marked by several auspicious coincidences. On this day, both the Moon and the Sun will align in Capricorn, while Jupiter will be positioned in Taurus, enhancing the day's importance. The second Amrit Snan is scheduled for January 29, a date viewed as particularly virtuous.

The second royal bath of Maha Kumbh will occur on January 29, coinciding with Mauni Amavasya, a day of special significance among the Amavasya dates. Known also as Maghi or Magh Amavasya, some saints observe a silent fast on this day. The Amrit Snan is especially noteworthy this year due to the formation of Triveni Yoga with the Moon, Mercury, and Sun in Capricorn.
