Leaders of the Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP) and some other opposition parties on Thursday protested in the Parliament premises over the issue of sending back alleged illegal immigrants from the US to India.
Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal, Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav and several other opposition MPs involved in the protest were wearing handcuffs on their hands. They raised slogans of 'We will not tolerate the insult of the country' and 'Modi government hai hai'.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, SP president Akhilesh Yadav and several other opposition leaders joined the protest.
A US military plane carrying 104 illegal Indian immigrants from the US landed in Amritsar on Wednesday. This is the first batch of Indians sent back by the Donald Trump administration as part of the action against illegal immigrants. In the pictures, handcuffs were seen on the hands of those sent back to India.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said that they (people brought to India from the US) were brought captive. The way they were sent back handcuffed is unacceptable. At the same time, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that this is not the first time that illegal immigrants have been deported from America. But the way they were sent back to India handcuffed in a military plane is inhuman. They are not criminals. India should say that this is not right.
Indians living illegally in America are being deported. Yesterday, an American plane carrying 104 Indians reachedAmritsar. Today, on Thursday, 33 people belonging to Gujarat have been brought to Ahmedabad. These people from Gujarat were among those 104 Indians who were deported from America on charges of illegal immigration. Officials gave this information.
