ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Discuss Team India's Strategy Ahead of Opening Match Against Bangladesh

As India begins its campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy-2025 with the opening match against Bangladesh, Team India captain Rohit Sharma said that the squad comprises two spinners and a majority of all-rounders. He said that this mix enhances the team's confidence.

During a conversation with broadcasters, Virat Kohli expressed his excitement about the pressure of the Champions Trophy. He said it is crucial not to lose any matches. India's opening game in the tournament is scheduled against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai at 2:30 PM.

Rohit remarked, "We have included just two spinners in the team, while the rest are all-rounders. We prefer to play to our strengths. All three all-rounders provide us with various options. Our aim was to have players with diverse skills in the team. This is a crucial ICC tournament, and we need to give our all to secure the trophy."

I have always enjoyed this tournament: Kohli

Kohli added, "The Champions Trophy is taking place after quite a while. To be honest, I have always enjoyed this tournament. It allows for the opportunity to play high-quality cricket throughout the year. Participation in this tournament is limited to teams ranked in the top eight, ensuring a consistently high level of competition."

He further explained, "In T20, you typically have only 3-4 matches, and if you don’t perform well in 1-2 of them, it can lead to losses. Similarly, the first two matches in this tournament are crucial. We need to bring our best performance, as the pressure starts from the very first match, which is why I appreciate it."

The Champions Trophy commenced on Wednesday with a match between New Zealand and host Pakistan, where Pakistan suffered a defeat.

Team India will kick off its campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh in Dubai at 2:30 PM, followed by matches against Pakistan on February 23 and New Zealand on March 2.
