LPG Price Cut: Ahead of the presentation of the Union Budget 2025, there is news of relief for the general public. Oil marketing companies have cut the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders from Saturday (February 1). Its price in Delhi has come down by Rs 7 to Rs 1797. At the same time, a slight drop in prices has also been seen in Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. However, there has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG cylinders, due to which the common consumers have not got any relief at the moment.
According to the new rates released on the website of Indian Oil, a 19 kg gas cylinder will now be available in Delhi for Rs 1797. In Kolkata, it has come down from Rs 1911 to Rs 1907. In Mumbai, its price has come down from Rs 1756 to Rs 1749.50. In Chennai it will now be available for Rs 1959.50, which was earlier Rs 1966. This will provide some relief to hotels, restaurants and other businesses, as commercial cylinders are mostly used by shopkeepers and hoteliers.
Prices reduced for the second time this year
This year, for the second time, the prices of LPG cylinders were reduced in the beginning of 2025. On January 1, 2025, companies had reduced the prices of commercial cylinders by Rs 14 to Rs 16. Earlier, in December 2024, there was a huge increase in the prices of cylinders, which increased the burden on consumers. Although the reduction made this time is marginal, it will definitely provide some relief to small businesses and restaurant owners.
No reduction in domestic gas cylinder prices
While the prices of commercial gas cylinders have been changed, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders remain the same. A 14 kg domestic gas cylinder is available in Delhi for Rs 803, Kolkata for Rs 829, Mumbai for Rs 802.50 and Chennai for Rs 818.50. These prices have remained stable since August 1, 2024. Domestic consumers are hoping that the government or oil companies will soon announce relief for them as well.
More relief expected in the budget
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget in Parliament today on February 1. The general public is hopeful that the government may announce further reduction in the prices of LPG cylinders. There has been no change in the prices of domestic gas in recent months, due to which consumers have not got much relief. In such a situation, the government can make a big announcement in Budget 2025, which will directly benefit the general public. Experts believe that the government can announce subsidy or other concessions on LPG.
