Amit Shah hails killing of 31 Maoists in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh as major success in the direction of making India Naxal-free


31 Naxalites have been killed during a fierce encounter in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh. During the operation of DRG and STF, 2 soldiers were also martyred, while 2 others are injured. This is being described as the biggest operation in recent times, in which such a large number of Naxalites were wiped out.


Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has described this as a significant success for the security forces in the direction of making India Naxal-free.


In a post on 'X,' the Union Home Minister stated that the security forces have achieved a major success in their efforts to make India Naxal-free, with 31 Naxalites killed and a large quantity of weapons and explosives recovered in the operation.


Shah said that today, while eliminating Naxalism, we have lost two brave soldiers. The nation will always be indebted to these heroes. Amit Shah extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers. He also reaffirmed that by March 31, 2026, we will eradicate Naxalism from the country, ensuring that no citizen has to lose their life because of it.


The central government has announced to completely eliminate Naxalism from the country by March 31, 2026. Dozens of Naxalites have been killed in Chhattisgarh in recent times. 


The encounter took place near the Bijapur-Narayanpur border. There was fierce firing from both sides, in which a large number of Naxalites were killed.


Number of slain martyrs may rise: IG


IG Bastar P Sundarraj said that so far 31 bodies have been recovered. The number of Naxalites killed may increase. During the encounter, 2 jawans were also martyred, while two others are injured. Automatic weapons have also been recovered from the spot.


Heavy firing from both sides


According to Bastar Police, security forces had an encounter with Naxalites in the forest of Bijapur National Park area. A large number of Naxalites were surrounded in this encounter on Sunday morning. There was heavy firing from both sides for hours. Initially, there was news of 12 Naxalites being killed, but with the search operation, more bodies were found in the forest.


Encounter also took place last week


Earlier on February 1, 2025, there was an encounter between police and Naxalites in Gangalur area of ​​​​Bijapur district. 8 Naxalites were killed in this encounter. At the same time, according to Bastar IG Sundarraj P, more than 50 Naxalites have been killed in different encounters in the state till February 1, 2025 this year. According to information received from the police, last year, security forces killed 219 Naxalites in different encounters in the state.


16 Maoists were killed last month


On 20 to 21 January, there was an encounter with the security forces in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh. The security forces got a big success in this. The force killed 16 Naxalites in the encounter. This encounter took place on the border of Chhattisgarh and Odisha. Therefore, along with Chhattisgarh, teams of Odisha Police and security forces also worked in it.
