Shivraj Holds Talks With Farmers in Chandigarh, What Was the Outcome? What Shivraj Said?


The second round of talks between farmers and the central government concluded in Chandigarh, Punjab, with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in attendance. Following the meeting, Chouhan described the discussions as positive and indicated that the dialogue would continue in the future. The meeting addressed various issues faced by farmers, and it has been announced that the next round of talks will take place in Chandigarh on March 19.


Shivraj said, "A very positive discussion has taken place with both the farmer organizations in a harmonious atmosphere. We have put forward all the farmer welfare works which are the priority of the Modi government in front of our farmer friends. We listened to the farmer leaders carefully. A good discussion has taken place, this discussion will continue. The next meeting will be held on March 19."


Minister Shivraj highlighted the open dialogue between government representatives and farmer leaders, emphasizing that the farmers were able to present their concerns directly to the Union Agriculture Minister. 


Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema also commented on the discussions, expressing the state government's commitment to supporting farmers and working towards a constructive resolution. He assured farmers that the government is actively engaged in protecting their interests.


Cheema further mentioned that the meeting included detailed discussions on the Minimum Support Price (MSP), and he indicated that relevant data regarding crop sales in the open market would be shared with the central government in the coming days.


The Finance Minister of the Bhagwant Mann government pointed out that MSP was a central topic of the talks, as farmer organizations insisted on a legal guarantee for MSP. Minister Cheema also noted that Union Ministers had requested farmer leader Dallewal to end his hunger strike during the discussions.
