Rajat of Muzaffarnagar, who helped cricketer Rishabh Pant during the 2022 road accident, is now himself admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
According to the police, Rajat and his alleged girlfriend had consumed poison, after which the girl died. Rajat's condition remains stable.
The girl's family says that Rajat and his family kidnapped the girl and killed her. However, Rajat's family has denied this. The family says that both of them made a video before consuming poison, in which they are heard talking about 'living and dying together.'
What is the whole matter?
On February 11, the police received information about a couple consuming poison in Purkaji police station area of Muzaffarnagar.
Purkaji police station in-charge Jaiveer Singh said, "A girl from Majra Buchcha Basti of village Shakarpur has died in this incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Rajat's condition remains stable. Further action will be taken on the basis of post-mortem report and viscera examination."
However, the police have denied receiving any formal complaint from the family of the deceased.
Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police Raju Kumar said, "This is a case of suicide. The villagers have told that both of them loved each other."
People from Scheduled Caste, Kashyap, Saini and Kumhar and other castes live in Rajat's village which has a population of about 450 people.
Talking about this incident, village head Gopal Singh said, "The marriage of both was fixed by their families at different places. But the love affair between these two is a topic of discussion in the village. Both wanted to marry each other. But how was this possible as they belonged to different communities and the same village. The girl's last rites were performed on February 11 itself."
Nitish and Rajat had saved Rishabh's life
In December 2022, when Rishabh Pant’s Mercedes dashed into a divider in Uttarakhand’s Roorkee, Nitish Kumar and Rajat Kumar were the two men in question who helped save Pant’s life.
The two factory workers who, until that moment, had no idea who Pant was, rushed to the scene of the crash, pulled him from the wreckage and transported him to the nearest hospital, where he received critical care.
The Indian wicketkeeper-batter had presented two men, who rescued his life after his horrible car accident, with scooters as a little token of gratitude.
