CBI has conducted raids on the residences of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Congress Party General Secretary Bhupesh Baghel in Raipur and Durg on Wednesday.
Apart from Bhupesh Baghel, the CBI team is also investigating the houses of Bhilai Congress MLA Devendra Yadav, Vinod Verma, who was political advisor to Bhupesh Baghel during his tenure as Chief Minister, and senior IPS officer Arif Sheikh, senior IPS Abhishek Pallav.
Senior IPS Anand Chhabra and former IAS Anil Tuteja, who is currently in jail in the coal scam, have also been raided.
However, it is not yet clear in what connection this raid action has been taken.
There are serious allegations of coal scam, liquor scam and online betting against Bhupesh Baghel's government and many close leaders and officials of Bhupesh Baghel have been in jail for a long time on these allegations. But, initially it is being linked to online betting.
A statement has been issued on Bhupesh Baghel's X account in this matter.
It has been said that the CBI reached his residence even before he left for Delhi to attend the meeting of the drafting committee constituted for the AICC meeting to be held in Gujarat on 8-9 April.
Political revenge
Meanwhile, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader TS Singhdeo has called it political revenge.
He said, "This is New India, where action is being taken out of political revenge. Efforts are being made to remove every political rival from politics."
"Earlier when central agencies used to take action, people used to assume that there must have been some reason. Now action is being taken only for political revenge."
It is worth noting that on the 10th of this month, the Enforcement Directorate raided Bhupesh Baghel's house and seized Rs 33 lakh.
Bhupesh Baghel had said that the central and state governments are conspiring together to keep him away from the Punjab elections. Bhupesh Baghel has been made the in-charge of Punjab by the Congress party.
