Himachal Pradesh: Six die in landslide in Kullu, many injured


After the massive earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand, now the fury of nature has been seen in Himachal Pradesh as well. Here, six people have died following landslide in Manikaran area of ​​Kullu district. According to information, many people have been injured in the incident. The team from the local administration has reached the spot for rescue operation. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out.


During the landslide, suddenly big pieces of the hill fell down, due to which a tree located near the Gurudwara collapsed. Out of the 6 people who lost their lives in the incident, 3 are said to be tourists, while three are local residents.


A landslide occurred suddenly at 5 pm on Sunday evening. During this time, many people were sitting near the Gurudwara on the roadside. There was also a street vendor there. In the landslide, a large amount of debris from the hill and a tree collapsed and fell on the ground, due to which many people came under its grip. 


The deceased include 3 men and 3 women. It is being told that at the time of the accident, tourists got down from a Sumo car to have tea near a street vendor.


Rescue operation continues


On getting the information, the local administration and rescue team also reached the spot. Along with removing the bodies from the debris, the injured have also been taken to a safe place. More than 5 people are believed to be injured in the accident. All have been sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.


Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Kullu, Ashwani Kumar, said, "Six people died, and five were injured after trees were uprooted near Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara parking in Kullu. Police and rescue teams of the district administration have shifted five injured to the local community hospital at Jari."


CM expresses grief


Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed deep grief over the incident. He directed the district administration to extend all possible assistance to the victims and their families. He also instructed officials to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured.


Expressing his condolences, the CM prayed for the peace of the departed souls and strength for the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss. He also wished a swift recovery for those injured in the incident.


CM Sukhu also assured the people that the state government stands firmly with the affected people in this hour of grief. 


Team of doctors at the spot


A team of doctors has also reached the spot who are giving first aid to the injured. Along with this, fire brigade vehicles and JCB have also been sent to the spot to remove the debris. Due to the landslide, traffic on the road has been stopped for the time being.
