Dehradun: Today, Thursday, March 6, Prime Minister Modi reached Uttarakhand on a one-day visit, where he also offered worship at Mukhaba, the winter abode of Goddess Ganga, located in Uttarkashi district.
After offering prayers at Mukhba-Harsil, Modi will also address a public meeting in Harsil. Apart from this, he will also flag off a trek and bike rally. Makhba is located on the way to Gangotri temple. Every year, after the closure of the gates during winter, the idol of Goddess Ganga is brought from Gangotri Dham to Mukhba temple.
On Prime Minister Modi's arrival at Jollygrant Airport in Dehradun today, he was welcomed by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan and others. From here PM Modi will leave for Mukhba-Harsil.
In this regard, Dhami wrote on social media, "Hearty welcome and felicitation to the world's most popular leader, respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, who has taken the development of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand to new heights with his energetic leadership and tireless efforts, on his arrival in Devbhoomi Uttarakhand today at Jollygrant Airport, Dehradun."
A day before the Prime Minister's visit, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by PM Modi approved two major ropeway projects worth more than Rs 6,000 crore for Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib. The Union Cabinet meeting approved two ropeway projects in Uttarakhand - Sonprayag to Kedarnath and Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib Ji - to help reduce travel time to pilgrimage sites and promote tourism. These projects will cost a total of Rs 6,811 crore.
Dhami said today is a very happy day for the people of Uttarakhand and the country. The construction of two ropeways will make the journey of the people very easy. Devotees will be able to reach Kedarnath easily for darshan. At the same time, with the construction of this ropeway, Sikh devotees from all over the world will also be able to visit Hemkund Sahib easily.
