NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has returned to Earth, sparking celebrations from America to India. Her cousin, Falguni Pandya, spoke to the media, sharing that Sunita plans to visit India soon, although a specific date has yet to be confirmed. Falguni expressed hope that Sunita would make the trip this year.
Following Sunita's safe landing, residents of her native village in Gujarat are filled with joy. Falguni described the moment of Sunita's return as “unforgettable.” Sunita and her colleague, Butch Wilmore, successfully landed on the coast of Florida aboard the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft. Falguni conveyed their happiness, stating, “We are very happy that she has returned safely.”
The family is now planning to spend time together, enjoying holidays and family gatherings. Falguni also said Sunita is a role model, saying, “She makes the best out of every situation she finds herself in.”
When asked about Sunita's future space endeavors, including the possibility of being the first person to land on Mars, Falguni said that it “will depend on her wish.”
Falguni revealed that Sunita was excited to hear about her recent trip to the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and requested pictures from the event. “She was very excited. She told me to tell her everything about it,” Falguni added.
PM expresses pride in her accomplishments
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reached out to Sunita with a letter, expressing pride in her accomplishments and stating that India eagerly awaits her visit. He noted, “1.4 billion Indians are proud of your achievements. Your inspiring perseverance and courage have been proven once again in recent events.” Modi mentioned that during meetings with Presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden in the U.S., he inquired about Sunita's well-being.
In his letter, Modi acknowledged Sunita’s mother, Bonnie Pandya, who is eagerly anticipating her return, and he remembered her late father, Deepak Pandya, saying, “I believe his blessings are with you.” Sunita Williams' successful return is an inspiring milestone for scientists and space enthusiasts in India and around the world, with many now looking forward to her upcoming visit to India.
Residents of Jhulasan village are very happy
Residents of Jhulasan village in Mehsana district, the hometown of Sunita’s father, Deepak Pandya, are particularly enthusiastic. Deepak Pandya migrated to America in 1957, and his legacy continues to inspire pride in the village.
