Bihar Assembly Elections-2025: High voltage drama has begun in the political corridors regarding the assembly elections set to take place in Bihar in six months. This time, the Bihar elections are expected to be highly competitive, as Jan Suraj, led by Prashant Kishor, is no longer just a campaign initiative but a formal political party. The people of Bihar now have a new option, and Jan Suraj is working diligently to secure electoral success.
For years, it has been believed that regardless of which party secures more seats, the master key to power remains with Nitish Kumar. It has often been assumed that he will continue as the Chief Minister, known colloquially as Sushasan Babu. However, to challenge this perception in the upcoming assembly elections, Prashant Kishor has launched a strategic offensive.
Is Prashant Kishor Following in Kejriwal's Footsteps?
Interestingly, many of Prashant Kishor's statements echo those of Arvind Kejriwal during his rise in 2013-14. Just as Kejriwal confronted the established powers in Delhi, Kishore is also vocal about displacing the old political parties in Bihar. In various interviews, he has asserted that Jan Suraj intends to hold the "master key" of power.
Kishore acknowledges that Bihar's political landscape differs significantly from that of Delhi. While caste dynamics played a minimal role in Delhi, they are pivotal in Bihar. Despite this, Kishore remains optimistic that his party will be a game changer in the upcoming assembly elections.
Do the People of Bihar Desire Change?
Kishor frequently states that over 60 percent of Bihar's population is seeking change this time around. He claims that citizens are dissatisfied with both Nitish Kumar's governance and Lalu Prasad Yadav's previous rule.
Asserting that Bihar has fallen behind in various aspects over the past 20 years under Nitish's leadership, Kishor believes the public is ready for a new beginning. He says Jan Suraj is the voice of this change, focusing on critical issues such as development, education, and employment—similar to Kejriwal's emphasis on an education revolution in Delhi prior to his tenure as Chief Minister.
Have Nitish and Lalu Disappointed Bihar?
Kishor argues that both Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav have failed to meet the expectations of the people of Bihar. He accuses Nitish of perpetuating an "Adhikari Raj" under the guise of good governance, claiming that his government is mired in corruption and that he is no longer capable of decisive leadership. These sentiments echo the criticisms that helped propel Arvind Kejriwal to power by highlighting the corruption of the Congress government in Delhi.
