Congress National Convention in Ahmedabad: What Rahul Gandhi said about OBCs distancing from party?

The Congress National Convention commenced on Tuesday in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. On the first day of this two-day event, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) convened, where Congress MP Rahul Gandhi shared his insights on the party's strategy and future plans.

During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi said, 'We were entangled in Dalit, Muslim and Brahmin and in the meantime OBCs distanced themselves from us.' He said that when the Congress talks about minorities, especially the Muslim community, the party is criticized, but there is no need to be afraid of it. The party should raise such issues and put forward its point without hesitation.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge opened the CWC meeting by honoring the Father of the Nation. He said this year marks the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi's presidency in the Congress Party. He also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Dadabhai Naoroji, acknowledging their contributions to the party's global reputation. Kharge emphasized that Gandhiji provided the principles of truth and non-violence as tools against injustice.

Current issues are being overshadowed by communal divisions: Kharge

In his address, Kharge expressed concern that current issues are being overshadowed by communal divisions, while oligarchic monopolies threaten to dominate governance and exploit the nation’s resources. He announced plans to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel nationwide and reiterated that Pandit Nehru regarded Patel as the architect of India's unity.

Mallikarjun Kharge said that the resolutions passed on fundamental rights in the Karachi Congress under the leadership of Sardar Patel are the soul of the Indian Constitution. He was the chairman of the important advisory committee of the Constituent Assembly. He alleged that for the past several years, a well-planned conspiracy has been going on regarding national heroes.
