Mandsaur accident: Eco car falls into well after hitting bike, 12 die

A horrific road accident occurred in Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday afternoon, April 27, resulting in the deaths of 12 persons and leaving three others seriously injured. The incident took place when an Eco car, traveling at high speed, first collided with a motorcycle before plunging directly into a well. This tragic event unfolded in Chakariya village, within the jurisdiction of the Narayangarh police station.

Situation exacerbated by gas leak

The situation was exacerbated by a gas leak from the vehicle. As the 13 occupants of the car fell into the well, LPG began leaking, causing suffocation among those trapped inside. In a brave attempt to rescue the victims, a local youth named Manohar Singh jumped into the well but tragically succumbed to the gas leak. His courageous act of heroism has become a topic of discussion throughout the area.

3 survivors hospitalized

Rescue operations commenced promptly after the incident was reported, with the Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP), Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), and police teams arriving at the scene. The car was extracted from the well using a crane, and three survivors—a woman, a child, and a teenager—were rescued and subsequently admitted to the district hospital. Unfortunately, the remaining 12 individuals could not be saved.

The Eco car was en route from Khojankheda/Jogipipliya in Ratlam district to visit the Antari Mata temple in Neemuch. Among the deceased was motorcyclist Gobarsingh Chauhan, a resident of Abkhedi, along with other victims identified as Kanhaiyalal, Nagu Singh, Pawan, Dharmendra, Asha Bai, Madhu Bai, and several others.
