A massive explosion occurred at a firecracker factory in Deoband, Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning. Initial reports indicate that two individuals have lost their lives in this tragic incident.
The explosion was so powerful that it caused the entire factory to collapse. It is feared that many people may be trapped under the rubble. Emergency services, including police and fire brigade teams, quickly arrived at the scene, with senior police officials also present. Rescue and relief operations are currently underway.
The firecracker factory, located in the Nihal Khedi area, is reportedly engaged in illegal firecracker manufacturing. Local residents described the explosion as so intense that its sound reverberated several kilometers away.
While it is confirmed that some persons were inside the factory during the explosion, the police have yet to verify the exact number of casualties. Investigations are ongoing to determine the type of gunpowder present in the factory that led to such a catastrophic explosion. The situation remains tense at the site following the accident.
Major fire at plywood factory in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra
In a separate incident, a major fire broke out at a plywood factory in the Mani Surat Complex in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. Fire officials reported that they were alerted to the blaze at 4:30 am on Saturday. The Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation dispatched at least four fire engines to the scene. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties thus far, and the Bhiwandi MCD has not requested additional support from neighboring municipalities.
