Bhopal: Intense heat has begun to take hold in Bhopal and other districts of Madhya Pradesh. Temperatures soared past 37 degrees Celsius in the state capital on Saturday. For the first time this summer, the Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert for Madhya Pradesh, particularly affecting the Ujjain, Gwalior, and Chambal divisions on April 7 and 8. The heat is also anticipated to impact Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur-Sagar divisions.
Dr. Divya E. Surendran, a senior scientist at IMD Bhopal, explained that two cyclonic circulation systems and a western disturbance were responsible for some light rain and cloud cover in certain areas a day earlier on Friday. However, this weather system is expected to weaken, leading to an increase in temperatures over the next few days. A rise in daytime temperatures is likely, with heat wave conditions forecasted for April 7 and 8.
Heat waves in these dists
The Meteorological Department has specifically warned that districts such as Neemuch, Mandsaur, Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, and Datia will experience heat waves on April 7. The following day, the heat wave will extend to additional areas, including Shivpuri, Guna, and Ashoknagar.
Temp reaches 40 degrees in Narmadapuram and Ratlam
While some regions experienced light rain earlier in the week, the impact of rising temperatures is evident across the state. Many areas saw temperature increases of up to 7 degrees Celsius, with Narmadapuram and Ratlam reaching 40 degrees, Khajuraho at 39.2 degrees, and Dhar at 39.1 degrees. In major cities, Bhopal recorded 37.6 degrees, Indore 37.4 degrees, and Gwalior 38 degrees.
The heat wave conditions may persist for 7 to 10 days throughout April, with a mix of weather patterns expected. Light rain is possible in the first two weeks, while the latter part of the month could see temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius.
