Shubhangi Atre's ex-husband Piyush Poorey passes away in Indore 2 months after divorce; Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai actress mourns


Piyush Poorey Passes Away: TV actress Shubhangi Atre’s ex-husband, Piyush Poorey, has passed away. He had been suffering from liver cirrhosis for a long time and breathed his last in a hospital in Indore.


The couple divorced in February of this year and had been living separately for three years. Shubhangi and Piyush have a daughter, Ashi, who has been living with her mother.


According to media reports, Shubhangi was shocked by the news of Piyush’s demise. Although she has resumed shooting for her show, she is mourning the loss of her daughter's father and has requested time and space during this difficult period.


Shubhangi Atre has worked in many serials on TV. She got recognition in every household for her characters played in various serials on TV. Shubhangi Atre is also very popular on social media.


Tied the knot in 2003


Shubhangi and Piyush tied the knot in a traditional ceremony in 2003. Piyush Poorey used to work in the digital marketing field. Both were married in 2003. Everything was fine between them till 2022. But due to domestic problems, there was a difference of opinion between the two. 


After 2022, both started living separately. Both tried a lot to save the marriage. But finally they decided to divorce. Both got divorced on 5 February 2025. Daughter lives with Shubhangi Atre. 


"Your thoughtfulness during this time means a great deal to me. I request you to give me some time to talk about this," she reportedly said.


The actress resumed the shoot of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai on Sunday.


Fans of Shubhangi were shocked


In March 2025, fans of Shubhangi were in for a shock after the actress revealed that Piyush and her had parted ways after 22 years of marriage and they were officially granted divorce in February 2025.


Revealing the reason behind the divorce later, Shubhangi told, "It was painful. I was fully invested in the relationship. Over time, Piyush and I developed irreconcilable differences. However, now that I’m out of that marriage, I feel a sense of peace, as if a heavy burden has been lifted. I want to focus on my daughter and provide her with a happy and secure environment."


Meanwhile, Shubhangi is currently a part of the cult sitcom Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai. She came on board the show in 2016 and has been essaying the role of Angoori Bhabhi, which was earlier played by Shilpa Shinde. The show also stars Rohitashv Gour, Aasif Sheikh, Vidisha Srivastava, and others in key roles.
