What did AIMPLB member say on JDU and TDP supporting Waqf Amendment Bill in Lok Sabha


On the passing of the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, All India Muslim Personal Law Board member Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali has given a statement to the media.


He said, "Somewhere we expected that JDU and TDP (Telugu Desam Party) would oppose this bill because both these political parties have received a lot of support from Muslims in their states. But the sad thing is that both these parties did not oppose this bill. This has caused great disappointment among Muslims."


Maulana Khalid also said that if the Waqf Amendment Bill is passed in the Rajya Sabha, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board will challenge this bill in court.


Maulana Khalid said, "We hope that we will get relief and justice from the court on the basis of the constitutional deficiencies in this bill."


On Wednesday, 288 votes were cast in favour of the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha and 232 against it. On Wednesday, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced this amendment bill.


Bill introduced in the Rajya Sabha


After getting the green signal from the Lok Sabha, this bill has been introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.


Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Rajya Sabha .


Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025, Kiren Rijiju said, "Before we brought this Waqf Amendment Bill, our Ministry of Minority Affairs prepared this bill after talking to all the stakeholders across the country extensively and we introduced it in the House."


Kiren Rijiju said that discussions have been held with the state governments, state minority commissions, Waqf boards and representatives of officials and religious institutions regarding this bill.
