Will JDU split over Waqf Amendment Bill? What is BJP's response?

Patna: The controversy over the Waqf Amendment Bill is continuously increasing. In Bihar, Nitish Kumar's party JDU seems to be splitting on this bill. JDU's Muslim leaders are on one side. JDU MLC Ghulam Gaus has already opposed the bill. Now the party's national general secretary Ghulam Rasool Balyavi has also raised questions on the NDA government. He said that everyone opened up in Parliament on the Waqf bill. A meeting will be called soon after the copy of the bill arrives. In such a situation, the question is now being raised whether JDU will split before the Bihar elections?

Ghulam Rasool Baliyavi further stated that Idara-e-Shariah, a socio-religious organization of Indian Muslims, had also provided its suggestions to the JPC, Nitish Kumar, and Naidu. He mentioned that a copy of the bill would arrive by this evening. Following this, Idara-e-Shariah will make a decision by holding a large meeting. He urged people to take to the streets instead of merely expressing their views on social media. He emphasized the importance of not just writing on walls or making comments on WhatsApp and Facebook, but having the courage to come out and participate when the news of the meeting is announced.

BJP's response

BJP has also responded to the statement of Ghulam Rasool Baliavi. BJP spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said that the business of people like Ghulam Rasool is now going to be closed. He accused Rasool that these people used to grab Waqf land and do brokerage on it. He further said that the benefit of income from Waqf land does not reach poor Muslims.

At the same time, political pundits say that differences among political parties are coming out openly regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. There is a split within JDU regarding this bill, while BJP says that this bill will enable proper use of Waqf land and poor Muslims will benefit. In such a situation, now it remains to be seen what decision Idara-e-Shariah takes in this matter and what happens next regarding this bill.
