Congress MP and Assam Congress state president Gaurav Gogoi has slammed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's decision to give arms licenses to citizens in the border areas of the state.
Late Thursday night, Gaurav Gogoi wrote on social media X, "I strongly condemn the Chief Minister's decision to give arms to citizens in the border areas of the state. The people of Assam need employment, affordable healthcare, quality education, not guns."
He called it the politics of the current state government and alleged, "Instead of strengthening the police and border forces, BJP wants to distribute weapons among RSS supporters and local criminal syndicates."
Along with this, Gaurav Gogoi wrote that this decision will increase violence and crime based on personal revenge.
Gogoi wrote, "This is not governance, it is a dangerous step towards anarchy and jungle raj. This decision reflects electoral concerns, not concern for the public."
