Heavy rain batters Delhi-NCR: 4 people die due to house collapse; over 100 flights disrupted at the airport


Heavy rains occurred in Delhi NCR on Friday morning. Four people are reported dead in Najafgarh, Delhi due to storm and rain.


Officials said that three children and a woman died due to collapse of a house in Najafgarh, Delhi after heavy rains.


A Delhi Fire Service official told, "We received information about a house collapse in Kharkhari Canal village of Najafgarh at 5.25 am. We deployed several teams on the spot and rescued four people from the debris."


The official said that they were taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.


Due to rain, water was logging at many places in Delhi NCR, many trees were uproooted and people had to face traffic jams.


Three flights diverted, over 100 delayed


The rain also affected Delhi airport. Three flights were diverted and more than 100 flights were delayed at Delhi airport due to storm and strong winds.


An official told that two flights landing at Delhi airport were diverted to Jaipur and one to Ahmedabad.


The latest advisory issued on the official X account of Delhi International Airport Limited states that the airport is fully operational. However, some flight operations have been affected due to bad weather.


The airport has requested passengers to contact the respective airline for information about their flight.
