The survey case concerning the disputed Jama Masjid of Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh will commence. The Allahabad High Court has rejected the civil revision petition filed by the Masjid Committee, which sought a stay on the survey.
Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal gave this order on Monday. The court said - the cases filed by the Hindu side are fit for hearing. Whatever action has been taken in this matter so far is correct. We will not interfere in the investigation of the commission. The commission investigation and filing of the case will continue as before.
In fact, the lower court (civil court) in Sambhal had ordered the survey of the Jama Masjid. On 19 November 2024, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) conducted the survey for the first time. For the second time, 5 days later on 24 November, the ASI team reached for the survey again.
Violence broke out during this time. 4 people died in it. After this, on 8 January 2025, the High Court gave an interim order and stayed the survey. Along with this, a reply was sought from all the parties.
After this, the Intezamia Committee of the mosque filed a civil revision petition in the High Court. In this, it was demanded to stop the survey. After the completion of the arguments on this petition on May 13, the High Court had reserved its decision.
