Strong tremors of earthquake have been felt in West Bengal. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred in the Bay of Bengal. Its epicenter was 10 kilometers deep in the earth. The intensity of the earthquake has been recorded at 4.4 on the Richter scale. However, there is no information about loss of life or property so far.
Light tremors jolt Uttarakhand, MP
Along with West Bengal, earthquake tremors were also felt in two other states of India, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh, on May 20. According to NCS, an earthquake occurred in Pithoragarh of Uttarakhand at 1:32 pm. The intensity of the earthquake on the Richter scale was 2.4. At the same time, earthquake tremors were felt in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh at around 1 pm. Its intensity was 2.5.
4.7 magnitude earthquake in Nepal
Apart from West Bengal, earthquake tremors were felt in Nepal on Tuesday at around 1:44 pm. The intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 4.7 on the Richter scale. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was in Sinuwa area of Kaski district, about 250 km from Kathmandu. Tremors were also felt in the neighboring districts of Tanahu, Parvat and Baglung.
Tremors were felt a day earlier too
On May 20, an earthquake of 4.4 magnitude occurred in the Bay of Bengal at a depth of 10 km in the earth. A day before this, people had also felt the tremors of the earthquake. According to NCS, on May 19 also, an earthquake of 4.5 magnitude occurred in the Bay of Bengal. At the same time, an earthquake of 3.8 magnitude occurred in Tibet and 3.9 magnitude in Myanmar.
Tremors in China too
Earthquake tremors were felt in China on Friday. The intensity of the earthquake was measured at 4.5 on the Richter scale. This earthquake occurred in the area of China adjacent to Myanmar. Earlier on May 12, an earthquake of 4.6 magnitude had struck Pakistan. However, there was no report of loss of life or property in this earthquake.
