Water dispute between Haryana and Punjab: What Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said?

Congress has now entered the ongoing water dispute between Haryana and Punjab. The grand old party has also criticized the AAP government. Former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said in Haryanat hat the reduction of Haryana's water by the Punjab government is "not only unconstitutional, but also immoral and inhuman".

Hooda also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of Haryana of failing to protect the interests of the state.

'Punjab govt has no right to stop Haryana's water'

Hooda said that the Punjab government has no right to stop Haryana's water. Doing so is an attack on the federal structure of the country. Haryana is not begging. This is the state's share, the amount of water was decided under a proper agreement between the two states.

The Congress leader said that the government should call a special session of the Assembly after an all-party meeting on the issue of water sharing and put pressure on Punjab to save Haryana from water crisis. Hooda also slammed the state government.

Haryana's BJP govt a total failure

Hooda alleged, "The BJP government of Haryana has so far proved to be a complete failure in ensuring the state gets its due share of water. Due to the inefficiency of the government, people may face water crisis."

The former Haryana CM blamed the Haryana government's failure to appoint state representatives in the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) for the current crisis. The former chief minister said that despite repeated warnings from the Congress, the state government never paid attention to the issue of water sharing.
