What did Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri say about India-Pakistan ceasefire?


Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday that India and Pakistan have agreed on an immediate ceasefire.


He said that an agreement has been reached between India and Pakistan to stop firing and military action.


The Foreign Minister wrote on the social media platform X, "India has consistently adopted a tough and unbending stand against all forms of terrorism. It will continue to do so."


Earlier, US President Donald Trump had given information about the agreement on 'immediate and complete ceasefire' in a post on Truth Social.


After this Pakistan's Deputy PM also confirmed it on social media.


India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri gave information about the ceasefire in a brief statement around 6 pm on Saturday evening.


He said, "The Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan called the Director General of Military Operations of India at 1530 hours IST earlier today.


"It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time today.


"Instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to the understanding.


The Director Generals of Military Operations will talk again on the 12th of May at 1200 hours."
