Bengaluru: After the horrific accident at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, the Karnataka government has taken a big step. The families of the 11 people killed in the stampede will now be given an assistance of Rs 25 lakh each. Earlier this amount was fixed at Rs 10 lakh, which has now been increased on the instructions of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
RCB has also announced compensation
Apart from the state government, RCB has also announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased. This accident shook the entire state, where the celebration of RCB's victory turned into mourning. 11 people have lost their lives and 56 have been injured in this accident.
Special commission formed to investigate the accident
The state government has formed a one-member commission to investigate this tragic accident in depth, which will be headed by a former High Court judge. The commission will investigate what procedural lapses occurred in organizing the event, whether all the rules were followed and who was responsible for it. Along with this, this commission will also give suggestions for the future on how to avoid such incidents. The commission has been given full powers of the Investigation Act 1952 and the Civil Procedure Code.
