Demolition of slums in Delhi's Kalkaji: What did former Delhi CM Atishi say?

On the orders of the Delhi High Court, action was taken with bulldozers to demolish illegal constructions in Kalkaji and Batla House areas of Delhi on Wednesday.

In this action, which was carried out with the deployment of security forces, about 1200 illegal shanties built in Kalkaji were demolished.

Regarding this action, former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said, "Three days ago, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ji said that not a single slum will be demolished in Delhi. Not a single slum will be touched."

She said, "And today, the bulldozer has been operating since 5 a.m. People are being forced out, beaten with sticks."

Who has brought the court order?

She said, "Rekha Gupta ji says that this is the court order. Who has brought the court order? The court order has been brought by the BJP's DDA and the BJP's Delhi government."

Aatishi said, "These poor people went to the court and the BJP's DDA and the BJP's Delhi government stood there and opposed them. They said that we will not give them houses and their slums should be demolished."

BJP is an anti-poor party

She said that 'this makes it clear that the BJP is an anti-poor party. Ever since the BJP government has been formed, it has gradually made the lives of the poor difficult.'

Aatishi says, "Power cuts are happening, from where will the poor buy an inverter? The price of electricity has increased and the price of water is going to increase. The fees of private schools are increasing. The houses of the poor are being demolished."

She said, "Does the BJP want the poor to leave Delhi? Does the BJP want the people of UP-Bihar living in slums to go back?"
