IND vs. ENG Test Series-2025: Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson unveiled trophy; what Sachin said about Test format?

India's legendary batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and England's James Anderson formally unveiled the trophy for the India-England series on June 19. The five-match series to be played between India vs. England has been named Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. This decision was taken by the cricket boards of both the countries, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

The trophy has an image of Anderson and Tendulkar in action. Apart from this, there are also their embossed signatures. Legendary batsman Tendulkar retired from cricket more than a decade ago after his 200th Test.

At the same time, Anderson played his 188th and last Test in 2024. Sachin Tendulkar made his international debut at the age of just 16. He scored 15,921 runs in Test cricket. Along with this, he is also the highest run scorer in this format.

Test format will always be on top for me: Sachin

While unveiling the trophy for the India-England Test series, Sachin said that the Test format will always be on top for him. The former Indian legend said, "For me, Test cricket is a symbol of life in which you give your best and if things go wrong, it gives you a chance to regroup, think and come back another day."

Further, Sachin said, "This is the top format of the game, which teaches you tolerance, discipline and adaptability to deal with all obstacles. I credit Test cricket for my foundation because it has taken me from disappointments to victory and has shown me how to fulfill expectations." Apart from this, he also believes that England and India have played a very important role in saving the future of the Test format.
