Punjab: Is Navjot Singh Sidhu becoming active again? Is it a challenge for Congress?

Navjot Singh Sidhu is ready to stir up the political circles of Punjab once again. Sidhu, who has created problems for the Congress many times before, is in active mode once again. He has made it clear that he considers politics not a business but a medium of change.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the current situation in the state, he described Punjab as being run by mafia rule and said that the government has neither any vision of development nor any policy direction.

Party had to bear the brunt of his rebellious attitude

This stance of Navjot Singh Sidhu has come at a time when the 2027 assembly elections are slowly approaching and the Congress is preparing to return to its lost power in Punjab. Sidhu's re-activation can become a matter of concern for the Congress, because in the past the party had to bear the brunt of his rebellious attitude. Now the question arises whether the party will be able to coordinate with Sidhu this time or will the old story be repeated?

Navjot Singh Sidhu, while returning to his old style in Amritsar recently, clearly said that he stepped into politics not to make money but to bring about change. He says that for the last 30 years, every government in Punjab has been running at the behest of some mafia or the other, but he still stands by his principles. Sidhu accused the ruling AAP government of running the state only by taking loans and no concrete policy has been put forward for the public.

Sidhu has become a headache for Cong earlier

Sidhu had become a headache for the Congress earlier also, when on the one hand he opened an open front against Amarinder Singh and on the other hand also maintained a constant confrontation with Charanjit Singh Channi. Due to this, the party suffered a crushing defeat from the Aam Aadmi Party in the 2022 assembly elections. Now that the elections are coming closer again, the Congress is afraid that Sidhu may again go against the party line.
