Sonam Raghuvanshi, a resident of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, who went missing in Meghalaya, has not been found yet. Sonam had gone to Meghalaya with her husband Raja Raghuwanshi to celebrate their honeymoon.
Sonam and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi had travelled to Shillong. After both went missing on 23 May, the NDRF and local police launched an extensive search operation. Eight days later on 2 June, the body of Raja Raghuvanshi was found in a deep gorge. The search for Sonam Raghuvanshi is still underway.
On Saturday, women of Indore protested demanding to find Sonam. Women reached the main intersections of the city carrying posters like 'Give justice to Sonam' and 'Sonam is alive'.
The women have demanded the Meghalaya government as well as the Central government to make the search operation more comprehensive and effective. Sonam's family and friends are confident that Sonam is alive and is trapped in some trouble.
Sonam's colleague Rashmi Soni said that she had spoken to Sonam just a few days before the accident. According to her, Sonam had told her that she was very excited about her marriage.
Rashmi said, "Sonam and Raja had a very good bonding. She was very happy and she had no stress or trouble."
At the same time, Sonam's aunt's daughter Shivani Raghuvanshi has questioned the search operation of the Meghalaya government. She said that the search operation needs to be carried out more effectively.
Shivani said, "We have come to know from the local people there that even today illegal activities are going on in some caves of East Khasi Hills. We have come to know that many more incidents have happened there."
She said, "We are sure that Sonam might be trapped somewhere in these areas. In such a situation, the government should run the search operation not just for a few hours a day but for the whole day and should also change the direction of the operation."
