Ahmedabad Mass Suicide: A shocking incident similar to Buradi in Delhi and Panchkula in Haryana has come to light from Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Here on Sunday, five members of a family allegedly died of suicide by consuming poison. The deceased include husband-wife, their minor children including two daughters and a son.

The couple and their three children were found dead at their home in Bagodara village in the early hours of Sunday. Police believe it is a case of mass suicide.

The deceased have been identified as Vipul Vaghela (32), his wife Sonal (26) and their children Kareena (11), Mayur (8) and Princess (5), a Bagodara police station official said.

Ahmedabad SP Om Prakash Jat told that police were alerted around 2 am. “Prima facie, it appears they consumed poison. Further prbe is underway to determine the motive,” he said.

The tragic discovery has shocked the local community. Authorities are speaking with neighbors and relatives as part of the probe.

Om Prakash said, "A man, his wife and their three children died by consuming poison at their rented home in Bagodara. The man used to drive an auto-rickshaw for a living, and the exact caue behind the extreme step taken by the family is not immediately clear." 

The bodies were sent to a local hospital for postmortem, he said.
