Assam: Congress cannot speak against cow slaughter, says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, what more he said?

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday launched a scathing attack against the Congress. Biswa said that the Congress will have to take 7 births to speak against Muslims. He alleged that the Congress does not have the courage to speak against cow slaughter by Muslims during Qurbani and alleged throwing of beef near religious places.

Sarma said in a meeting that the BJP is the only party that can request the Muslim community to 'sacrifice' animals other than cows. Attacking the Congress, the Chief Minister asked, "Can the Congress do this? It will have to take seven births to say this. So who is the well-wisher of cows?" He also questioned whether the Congress has ever opposed the open sale of beef in shops and throwing of meat in front of Namghar.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "Has the Congress condemned the Dhubri incident? (Dhubri experienced communal tensions following the alleged discovery of a cow's severed head at a temple, leading to protests, property damage, and a shoot-at-sight order issued by the Chief Minister.) Or will it condemn the Hajo case, in which beef was found today? (In the past 3 days, in several districts of Assam, 178 places, including hotels, restaurants and slaughterhouses, have been raided and searched, and 196 people have been detained in a major crackdown against the sale of beef in the state.)

Congress operates in the reverse order

CM Sarma said the Congress operates in the reverse order. Where it should speak, it remains silent. According to the police, about 80 people have been arrested in Dhubri, Hojai, Goalpara and Lakhimpur districts for throwing pieces of beef during Eid last month. On Thursday, some pieces of meat, suspected to be beef, were also found in Hajo in Kamrup district.

The chief minister said, “Opposition parties do not raise their voice where they should. Thousands of cows are killed for ‘sacrifice’ in Assam. Sarma also criticised the Congress and other opposition parties for repeatedly raising allegations of corruption in connection with the Gorukhuti Multipurpose Agricultural Project in Sipajhar of Darang district.
