Bhopal: National and international level water sports complex to be built in Khanugaon


Under the direction of Bhopal Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh, a meeting of the District Wetland Committee was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of ADM Ankur Meshram. In the meeting, a proposal was presented to set up a national and international level water sports complex in Khanugaon area. 

Assistant Director of Sports Department Dr. Kshipra Srivastava informed that Bhopal is the top contender in the country for organizing the proposed Asian Championship in the year 2026. In view of the possibilities of successful organization of water sports activities in Khanugaon area, a sports complex has been planned in an area of ​​about one and a half acres. 

Sports Complex will have various facilities

Srivastava informed that this complex will be located at a distance of 50 meters from the Full Tank Level (FTL) as per the guidelines of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). It will include facilities like gym, boat house, changing room and office. The proposed construction will be done entirely using prefabricated technology, in which no permanent construction of any kind will be done.

SDM Ravishankar Rai, Deputy Collector Lakhan Singh Chaudhary, City Planner Municipal Corporation Bhopal  Anoop Goyal, PWD, Water Resources, Pollution Control Board and other related department officials were present in the meeting.
