Nitish Kumar govt's big move before Bihar assembly elections-2025: What announcement CM made about free electricity

Bihar assembly elections-2025: 125 Units of Electricity Free in Bihar: Nitish government in Bihar has played a big bet before the 2025 assembly elections. The Bihar government has announced to give free electricity up to 125 units. This time Nitish Kumar himself has announced this. Earlier, the government had denied the news of free electricity.

This decision has been taken with the aim of giving relief to the common citizens of the state and increasing the popularity of the government. It is believed that this announcement can especially attract rural and middle class voters.

Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has also promised that if the Mahagathbandhan government is formed in Bihar, then he will give 200 units of electricity free to everyone. Now as a counter to this promise of Tejashwi Yadav, the Nitish government is already going to give 125 units of free electricity.

1.67 crore families to benefit

CM Nitish Kumar himself has announced this decision. He posted on the social media platform X and said, "We have been providing electricity to everyone at affordable rates since the beginning. Now we have decided that from August 1, 2025, i.e. from the bill of the month of July, all the domestic consumers of the state will not have to pay any money for electricity up to 125 units. This will benefit a total of 1 crore 67 lakh families of the state."

Solar power plants to be installed on the roofs

CM Nitish further said that "We have also decided that in the next three years, by taking consent from all these domestic consumers, benefits will be given by installing solar power plants on the roofs of their houses or at the nearest public place. Under the Kutir Jyoti Yojana, the state government will bear the entire cost of installing solar power plants for the extremely poor families and the government will also provide proper support for the rest.

CM Nitish Kumar says that with this, up to 10 thousand megawatts of solar energy will also be available in the state in the next three years.
