The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved the ‘Mukhyamantri Vrindavan Gram Yojana’ aimed at making villages self-reliant. Under this scheme, one village from each assembly constituency will be selected, with a minimum population of 2,000 and at least 500 bovines. These villages will be developed as ‘Vrindavan Grams’, setting a model of self-sufficiency and holistic rural development for others.
Key focus areas
Key focus areas under the scheme will include cow rearing and dairy development, environmental conservation, organic farming, water conservation, solar energy, pasture development, infrastructure development and rural entrepreneurship & livelihood generation.
The state envisions creating model villages that inspire others toward self-reliance and comprehensive growth. These model villages will integrate cleanliness, greenery, cow service (gau seva), spirituality, and economic self-dependence, realising the concept of "Vrindavan" in rural Madhya Pradesh.
Promoting cow rearing
Major objectives of the scheme are to promote cow rearing and dairy self-sufficiency, expand dairy businesses through cooperatives, and encourage public participation in environment-friendly activities like organic farming, water conservation & solar energy and to improve infrastructure. The villages also aim to create employment opportunities and achieve the sustainable development goals.
These facilities will be developed
The facilities will be developed across 6 categories in in selected Vrindavan Grams. Gaushalas, panchayat buildings, community halls, anganwadis, health centers, schools, passenger shelters, solar street lights, libraries, skill/livelihood centers, veterinary hospitals, internal village roads, PDS shops and godowns, solar-powered piped water for every home, craft centers, biogas plants, cremation grounds (Shantidham), drainage, artificial insemination centers, solar & renewable energy setups, climate-resilient housing, individual toilets, public parks, public toilets, irrigation sources and drip irrigation systems would be provided in selected Vrindavan Grams.
Nandan Falodyan and Poshan Vatikas will be developed
As employment initiatives, Nandan Falodyan, Poshan Vatika, Milk Collection Centres, Small-Scale Forest Produce & Agri/Fruit-Based Industries and skill-based service promotion would be developed in Vrindavan Grams. The Vrindavan Grams would consist of rainwater harvesting, roof water harvesting, tube well recharge, dug well recharge, check dams, and pond preservation.
