Heavy rain continues in Madhya Pradesh. There is a flood situation in Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Ashoknagar and Guna. Many villages in these districts remain surrounded by floods on Monday. A pickup was swept away in the Dhasan river in Chhatarpur. One person died in this incident.
There is a warning of heavy rain in 18 districts of Rajasthan. On Sunday, two cousins died in a rainy drain in Bhilwara and a brother-sister died after drowning in a pond in Rajsamand. A child died after falling in mud in Beawar. Ajmer railway station was flooded. The wall of a house collapsed in Jodhpur.
Orange alert for these states
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and North Gujarat on July 14. Thunderstorms and lightning are likely at many places in the western Himalayan region and plains during the next 7 days.
Heavy rains are likely to continue at isolated places over western Madhya Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jharkhand and West Bengal on July 14. Also, heavy rains are likely at some places over Saurashtra and Kutch region of Gujarat, besides the Ghat region of Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa during July 14 and 16.
Possibility of rain in these states
Heavy rains are likely at many places over eastern and western Rajasthan on July 14 and 15. Along with this, heavy rains are expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during July 14 to 19.
UP dams overflow
UP dams have started overflowing. 17 gates of Govind Sagar Dam located in Lalitpur have been opened. River Ganga is in spate in Varanasi. The water level is rising at a speed of 2 centimeters per hour. Ratneshwar Mahadev temple is 80 percent submerged. At the same time, the peak of the 80 feet high statue of Lord Buddha was damaged due to lightning.
Nearly 100 die in HP so far
98 people have died in Himachal Pradesh due to rain, flood and landslide incidents from the entry of monsoon on 20 June to 13 July. So far, a loss of Rs 770 crore has been incurred. More than 90 houses have been completely destroyed. 150 roads are still closed.
