The Delhi government has announced an important relief for the owners of 10 to 15 year old used vehicles. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's government has now lifted the ban imposed on old cars. This means that now these vehicles will be able to get fuel at petrol pumps without any restriction and they will not have to face any kind of obstacle.
Now no restriction will be applicable on the basis of the age of the vehicles. Earlier many people were angry about this decision, but now the owners of old vehicles have got a big relief.
The Delhi government has withdrawn the old rules which were implemented from July 1. But now 10 year old diesel cars and 15 year old petrol cars will now get fuel without any restriction and these vehicles will not be seized at petrol pumps. This decision has brought a wave of happiness among the owners of old vehicles, because now their vehicles will not be useless.
People had slammed Delhi government's crackdown on older vehicles
Earlier, the Delhi government's recent crackdown on older vehicles had become a major talking point across the capital. Under the newly policy, petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years were barred from refuelling at fuel stations in the city. Aimed at curbing rising air pollution levels, the rule was implemented with the help of Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at petrol pumps to detect and restrict "end-of-life" vehicles.
But many vehicle users slammed the government's decision to scrap diesel vehicles after 10 years, questioning the fairness of paying road tax for 15 years while facing premature scrappage.
