Why politics has heated up over renovation of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's new govt bungalow?


Politics has heated up over the amount to be spent on the renovation of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's new government bungalow in Delhi. When it was occupied by former CM Kejriwal it was called Sheesh Mahal by BJP which was in Opposition at that time. 

Aam Aadmi Party, now in the Opposition, has targeted bungalow number one of the CM residence by calling it 'Maya Mahal', while Congress has named it 'Rang Mahal'. Actually, the renovation of CM Rekha Gupta's new government residence bungalow number-1 Raj Niwas Marg has started. Its total cost is Rs 60 lakh.

According to media reports, as per the tender issued by PWD, the electrical system will be upgraded in the first week of July. In this, rewiring of lights and fan points will be done. Also, 24 ACs and 5 LED screens will be installed. Besides, 23 energy efficient ceiling fans and 16 wall fans will be installed. At the same time, the cost of 24 ACs is Rs 11 lakh.

According to reports, 115 light units will be installed in the bungalow, which also includes 2 big chandeliers. Their total cost is being said to be Rs 6.03 lakh. For the common hall, 16 nickel finish flush ceiling lights, 7 brass ceiling lanterns, 8 brass and glass wall lights will be purchased. Also, 5 TV units are proposed.
